Turkey or the UK? A side-by-side look before you book

Published by Fix My Hair · 23 October 2026

This page does not tell you Turkey is wrong. It adds up the full cost, sets out who does what on the day, and gives you five questions to ask any clinic, in any country, so the decision is yours and it is an informed one.

The full cost, added up

A package price is one line of the bill. Put the rest on paper before you compare it with a UK price.

Who does what on the day

The same three questions apply anywhere: who makes the recipient incisions, who extracts the grafts, and who implants them. In December 2023 the UK and Turkish surgical bodies (BAAPS, BAHRS, BAPRAS and TSPRAS) issued joint minimum guidelines. They say a hair transplant is surgery, that you should know who is performing each step, and that the doctor responsible should be identified before you commit. Ask the question in the UK and ask it abroad.

At Fix My Hair your surgery is surgeon-led: an independent GMC-registered surgeon performs your procedure at a CQC-registered partner clinic, and you meet your surgeon at consultation, before you pay anything.

Five questions to ask any clinic, in any country

  1. Can I meet the operating doctor before I pay? The guidelines say you should.
  2. Will you give me two weeks to decide? A cooling-off period of at least two weeks is the recommended minimum.
  3. Who performs each surgical step, and who supervises? Get the answer in writing.
  4. How are complaints handled, and by whom? Ask for the route, not a reassurance.
  5. If I have a problem at 10pm, who do I call, and can they see me? Out-of-hours complication care is a minimum standard.

Fix My Hair's answers: yes, you meet your surgeon first; yes, take the written quote home and decide in your own time; your surgeon performs the procedure and the surgical team is explained to you at consultation; complaints are acknowledged within 5 working days under the terms and conditions; and the UK team is reachable 7 days a week, 10:00 to 20:00, with in-person review arranged when it is needed.

Aftercare and follow-ups close to home

The twelve months after surgery are when questions come up: shedding in the first weeks, slow growth at month four, a patch that looks thinner than the rest. From Liverpool that means a WhatsApp message or a call to a team that knows your case, and check-ups at 3, 6 and 12 months with the same team, in person. The month-by-month recovery guide shows what to expect and when.

Common questions

Is a hair transplant in Turkey a bad idea? Not necessarily. This page makes no claim about the quality of surgery in any country. It asks you to add up the full cost and to ask the same questions of any clinic: who operates, where, and who looks after you afterwards.

What does a UK hair transplant cost at Fix My Hair? FUE is £3,500 up to 3,000 grafts and £5,700 over 3,000 grafts, agreed in writing after your free consultation. There are no flights, hotel nights or return trips to add.

What should I add to a Turkey package price? Flights for you and any companion, hotel nights not in the package, travel days off work, and the cost of return trips or the absence of in-person follow-up.

Can I get a second opinion on a quote from abroad? Yes. Bring the quote to a free consultation and it will be read through with you line by line.

Do you accept repair cases from surgery abroad? Yes, where a repair is realistic. The assessment is free, and if a repair is not worth doing you will be told so.
