What a repair can and cannot fix

Most problems we see after surgery abroad fall into five groups, and honesty about each is more useful than reassurance. A hairline that sits too low or too straight can usually be softened and redesigned. Patchy density can usually be built up, provided donor hair remains. Grafts placed at the wrong angle can be disguised with careful work in front of them, though the originals stay. Visible scarring can often be improved. An overharvested donor area is the hard one: it limits every other option, and sometimes the honest advice is to protect what is left rather than spend it.

Why donor hair decides your options

Donor hair is the currency of every repair, and it is finite. Your first procedure spent some of it, whether or not you got value for it. That is why our assessment is mostly an audit of what remains: how much usable donor hair you have, what it can realistically cover, and whether it is better spent now or held in reserve. A repair plan that ignores this arithmetic is not a plan, it is a gamble with the last of your options.

How we assess a transplant that went wrong abroad

The process is deliberately unhurried. Photos first, if you prefer to start from home. UK vs Turkey: the aftercare gap that causes repairs

Most of the repairs we see were not caused by bad intentions. They were caused by distance: a complication nobody could look at in person, a follow-up that was a video call, a question answered by a coordinator instead of the doctor who did the surgery. Aftercare is the part of a transplant that cannot be posted to another country.

A good repair conversation includes numbers and limits. Coverage targets get discussed in person, against your donor supply, not promised on a website. Turkey repair FAQs, answered straight

Can every bad hair transplant be fixed? No, and we would rather tell you that early than late. Some repairs transform things, some improve them, and a few are not worth doing. The assessment exists to find out which yours is, before you spend anything.

How soon after surgery abroad can a repair happen? Usually you need to wait until the first result has fully settled, which tends to mean around a year from the original surgery. Dr Band confirms the right timing for you at the assessment.

Will you criticise the clinic I used? No. You made a reasonable decision with the information you had. Our job is the plan from here, not a lecture about the past.
